Your natural perimenopause option

Menopause occurs when a woman has not had a menstrual period for 12 months. The time before menopause is known as perimenopause, and it’s this time that women experience most of the well-known menopause symptoms. It can last between 3-7 years.

Perimenopause is portrayed in popular culture as a challenging and hellish time when women become monsters! However, it doesn’t have to be. Perimenopause can be a far smoother ride with the right diet and lifestyle choices.

Perimenopause symptoms

  • Hot flushes and night sweats,
  • Brain fog and difficulty concentrating,
  • Shorter or longer menstrual cycles,
  • Heavier bleeding and flooding or lighter bleeds and spotting,
  • Aches and pains,
  • Anxiety or depression,
  • Irritability,
  • Difficulty staying asleep.
  • Weight gain

Because every woman is unique, she experiences her perimenopause a little differently. Some may be profoundly affected, and others may notice only a few hot flushes. That’s why a menopause support program needs to be individualised.

How your naturopath looks at perimenopause

I view menopause as a natural life-stage transition rather than a medical condition that needs fixing. It’s all about helping your body adjust to the changing hormone environment with as minimal discomfort as possible. Treatments are tailor-made for you. Your symptoms will change as you transition through perimenopause, so regular check-ins mean your treatment plan is updated to ensure it remains effective.

Natural menopause support includes symptom management with herbal medicines and nutritional supplements. Diet, exercise, lifestyle and stress are evaluated, and I’ll teach you how to incorporate changes in a sustainable way. My goal is to get you to be as healthy as possible so your post-menopausal years (on average a third of your life!) can be energetic productive and enjoyable.
