Case Study: Overcoming  bloating

 

Jane** was a 34 year old woman who presented at my clinic with severe bloating and pain after meals. When she ate meat she felt like it sat in her stomach for hours.

She’d given up gluten, dairy, red meat and had been trying a low FODMAP diet but nothing really helped. Her diet was limited. She only had one- two bowel motions per week.

What we did

Treatment involved supporting her production of stomach acid to help break down food, enhancing her output of bile from the liver to get the bowels moving (bile is your body’s natural laxative) and developing stress management practices to reduce inflammation and keep the gut lining healthy.

What happened

After one week of treatment her she was having a bowel motion every other day and the bloating had reduced considerably.

Treatment continued for 9 weeks with reintroduction of previously problematic foods, resolution of bloating and daily bowel motions. Jane now maintains her digestive health through diet and lifestyle.
