Meet your eczema Naturopath
Hi, I’m Norelle Hentschel, a degree-qualified Naturopath in Brisbane with a clinical focus on integrative skin health.
I have a Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathy and in 2025 I completed a Master of Advanced Naturoapthic Medicine. My clinic has been operating since 2015 and I see patients both in person and on-line.
Why work with a naturopath
As an eczema naturopath in Brisbane, my role is to support the underlying drivers of inflammation that influence the skin and not just manage visible symptoms.
This whole-body approach focuses on:
- Reducing flare frequency
- Improving skin resilience and recovery
- Supporting long-term comfort and confidence

An Evidence-Informed Holistic Eczema Framework
As an eczema naturopath in Brisbane, my role is not to replace medical care but to complement it by identifying contributing factors that may be driving eczema and dermatitis.
👉🏻 Gut-skin connection
Digestive health plays a key role in immune regulation and inflammation. Supporting gut function and microbiome balance may influence eczema severity and flare patterns.
👉🏻 Immune system balance
Eczema is linked to immune hypersensitivity rather than immune weakness. Care focuses on supporting appropriate immune responses and reducing inflammatory signalling.
👉🏻 Nervous System and Stress
Stress can influence skin inflammation and itch perception. Nervous system support is an important part of eczema management for both children and adults.
👉🏻 Diet and nutrition
Nutrition support is individualised and focuses on skin barrier nutrients, inflammation balance and sustainable food strategies rather than unnecessary restriction.
This framework is informed by current eczema research and clinical guidelines.
Working alongside medical eczema treatment
Naturopathic care at Your Remedy is complementary to conventional eczema treatment.
Topical treatments, emollients and prescription medications can be important — particularly during active flares. Our focus is on supporting longer-term skin health by addressing contributing internal factors, while encouraging collaboration with your GP or dermatologist.
What Makes Your Remedy Naturopathy Different?
Many eczema treatments focus only on suppressing symptoms.
My approach focuses on:
✔️ Investigating underlying drivers
✔️ Personalised care, not trend driven
✔️ Collaborative care alongside your GP or dermatologist
✔️ Evidence-informed herbal and nutritional medicine
✔️ Education so you understand your skin
✔️Over 10 years of clinical experience supporting, hundreds of patients
** Current consultation fees are available on the Book a Consult page.

Frequently asked questions about Naturopathy & eczema
Can a naturopath help eczema?
Yes. A naturopath may help eczema by supporting immune balance, improving gut function, addressing individual food responses and strengthening skin barrier health. This approach complements conventional treatments and focuses on reducing flare frequency and improving overall skin resilience.
How Is Naturopathic Eczema Treatment Different from Conventional Care?
Conventional eczema treatment typically focuses on symptom management using topical corticosteroids, emollients and prescription medications. Holistic eczema care addresses underlying drivers such as immune regulation, gut health, stress physiology and nutrition, and is designed to complement medical treatment rather than replace it.
Do you work alongside dermatologists?
Yes. Integrative care is encouraged. Clients can continue medical treatment while receiving naturopathic support.
Is this safe alongside medications?
Yes. I always review medications to and coordinate care where needed.
What causes eczema flare-ups?
Common factors that may contribute to eczema flare-ups include
- Immune hypersensitivity
- Gut microbiome imbalance
- Food intolerances or sensitivities
- Skin barrier dysfunction
- Stress and nervous system dysregulation
- Environmental triggers
Flare patterns are individual, which is why personalised assessment is important.
Where can I see an eczema naturopath in Brisbane?
Your Remedy Naturopathy provides eczema consultations in Brisbane and via telehealth Australia-wide. Care is available for babies, children, teenagers and adults, with personalised plans designed to support long-term skin health.
How long does it take to see an improvement in eczema?
Timeframes vary depending on age, severity and underlying contributors. Some people notice early improvements in comfort and flare recovery within weeks, while deeper immune and gut support may take several months. A personalised treatment plan helps guide realistic expectations.
How much does a consultation cost?
Consultation fees are transparent and available before booking. Fees are for consults only. Any products purchased from the dispensary are an additional cost.
The current consultation fees can be found on the Book a consult page. Naturopathy is not covered by Medicare. Some private health insurance funds offer rebates for Naturopathy. Check with your fund for details.
If you want more information before booking I also offer a free Discovery Call.
What are your qualifications?
I hold an undergraduate Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) and a post graduate Master of Advanced Naturopathic Medicine. I am a professional member of the Australian Naturopathic Practitioners Association (ANPA) which requires me to hold all appropriate insurances and complete on-going professional development education to ensure my care aligns with current best practice.
What is the gut-skin connection in eczema?
The gut–skin connection refers to the relationship between digestive health, the microbiome and immune function. Because eczema is an inflammatory immune condition, disruptions in gut balance may influence flare frequency and severity. Supporting gut health can therefore form part of a holistic eczema management plan
